The Tre Cime di Lavaredo and the Cinque Torri are never wrong, they manage to surprise everyone every time and make all our customers happy. Their landscapes are truly unique and incredible.
The workshop program is designed to photograph the less inflated angles of these most fascinating symbolic places of all the Dolomites.
These were difficult days with the weather but thanks to a fnatastic group we spent happy days and studied landscape photography down to the smallest detail.
This trip was planned down to the smallest detail to be the right place at the right time based on the weather and the month of the year.
Day 1
Meeting at Lake Misurina at 2pm, made a brief introduction on what we will face during our adventure, we left to reach the Auronzo refuge where we will spend the first night.
Having fixed our photographic equipment and packed our backpack to be able to eat in the midst of nature between sunset and the arrival of the stars, we faced the first photo lesson session before starting our trek to the most beautiful spots.
The weather was not the best, so we went to the shelter to study the theory of landscape photography in its smallest details, from the composition, to the light, to the special techniques to obtain high-impact photos, such as perspective blend, time blend, HDR , focus stacking, focal blend, etc. All techniques that we saw in practice in the field during the workshop.
Finally the sun makes its way through the clouds and we decide to take our hike to reach the caves where we will wait for the sunset.
With the return of the rain I adapted the program to offer the best possible experience to the guys, thus deciding to go back and face the path on the other side to reach some small lakes where everything is reflected.

From this side the sun illuminated us along the way and a beautiful light had been created. The boys liked the spot a lot and after sunset we ate and had a toast with the prosecco that a lady had brought while waiting for the stars.
After teaching the group how to orient themselves during the night, how to recognize the sky and the North Star and how to manage the use of the equipment in the dark, I explained the use of the astro-tracker and how to take the Milky Way both with the use of the star tracker and without.
Here is the Milky Way, exactly as planned above the Tre Cime di Lavaredo. After a short shooting session unfortunately we saw some lightning approaching and we rightly decided to return to the shelter.
Day 2
Good morning world it’s 5am, the sky is promising and we leave to reach the Campedelle mountain with a hike of about 30 minutes.
From up there there is a 360 degree view between the iconic Cime di Lavaredo seen from behind and the majestic Cadini di Misurina.

After about an hour of shots, finally a crazy light illuminated all the Cadini and a carpet of fantastic clouds that framed a dream scene.
After a nice breakfast and a lot of capuccino at the Auronzo refuge we drove to reach the parking lot of the Scoiattoli refuge, under the Cinque Torri.
In ten minutes by chairlift we got a breathtaking scenery, the Cinque Torri stand out in front of the refuge.
A couple of hours of relaxation we faced another study session, this time very technical, all that is needed to be able to take powerful photographs while shooting, focusing more on night photography.
Dinner with typical Dolomite dishes is never wrong. Unfortunately, the sky never cleared so the boys enjoyed themselves with slices of cake and typical alcoholic drinks. 😁
Day 3
Wake up at 6am to catch the first light and wait for the sun star in the right position in the middle of the Cinque Torri.
Around 7am the sun was exactly there making the star on the right side of the largest tower.

Between clouds the sunstar lasted a few minutes but enough to make the guys happy by getting their shot at dawn!
A well-deserved magnificent buffet breakfast is a great ending!

After a summary of everything faced and studied in these days, our adventure has come to an end and we went down with the chairlift to reach the cars.
We will see the edit phase from raw files to web conversion by appointment on skype divided into two small groups, with shared monitor and recording of the whole lesson.
Thanks a lot guys, you were fantastic!
