Photography Skill Level Required
This workshop is open to photographers of all levels, from beginners to advanced. Whether you are just starting out or already experienced, the itinerary and guidance are adapted to support your level.
The only requirement is an interest in landscape and night photography, along with a willingness to spend time outdoors shooting from sunrise through sunset and into the night under the Dolomites’ skies.
Physical Fitness Requirements
No special physical preparation is required, as most photography locations on our Dolomites tour are easily accessible with short walks.
The second day will be our longest hiking day, but the trail itself is relatively easy, and we’ll make several stops along the way to photograph. This will make the longer hike enjoyable and manageable for everyone.
What weather conditions can I expect during this week?
The weather in the Dolomites can be unpredictable, offering a mix of warm days and chilly nights. In summer, daytime temperatures typically range between 25°C and 30°C (77–86°F), while at night—especially during Milky Way photography sessions at high altitudes—temperatures can drop close to 0°C (32 °F).
Thunderstorms are common in the summer, often forming in the afternoons, even on otherwise clear days. Being prepared with layers, waterproof gear, and rain protection will help ensure you stay comfortable while capturing breathtaking landscape shots in any condition.
What Clothing & Gear Should You Bring?
Proper outdoor clothing is essential for this Dolomites photography adventure, as mountain weather can change quickly.
During the day, temperatures can reach 25–30°C (77–86°F), especially while hiking, while nighttime temperatures at higher elevations can drop close to freezing. We strongly recommend hiking shoes or boots with good grip, as some locations feature rocky, uneven, or gravel terrain.
For sunset and Milky Way photography sessions, a layered clothing system is highly recommended.
We suggest:
🌡️ Base Layer: Lightweight, breathable layers for daytime hikes
🧥 Mid Layer: Warm fleece or insulated jacket for cooler evenings
🌧️ Outer Layer: Waterproof and windproof jacket for changing mountain weather
🥶 Cold-Weather Layer: Warm insulated clothing for night photography at high altitude
🥾 Footwear: Waterproof hiking boots with good grip and non-slip soles
🧤 Accessories: Warm hat, gloves, and thermal socks
With the right clothing and footwear, you’ll stay comfortable from warm daytime hikes to cold Milky Way sessions in the mountains.
