Photography tour Itinerary
Meeting points: Venice airport (Marco Polo), not after 11am on October 24th, 2026
Departure: On the 30th in the morning we will bring the group back to the Venice airport (Marco Polo)
Please the departure from Venice on October 30th no earlier than 3pm
The itinerary is flexible and may change based on weather conditions. Our goal is to adapt and ensure you have the best possible experience in these mountains.
📍Day 1 – Antorno Lake
Arrival and first sunset shoot surrounded by alpine reflections.
📍Day 2 – Landro lake (Dürrensee) / Tre Cime di Lavaredo (Drei Zinnen)
Sunrise at Landro, then sunset and night photography at Tre Cime.
📍Day 3 – Federa Lake & Giau Pass
Super jeep adventure to Federa Lake for sunrise; sunset at Giau Pass.
📍Day 4 – Braies Lake (Pragser Wildsee) & Cinque Torri
Morning at Braies Lake, sunset at Cinque Torri, plus editing session.
📍Day 5 – St. Jakob Church & Santa Maddalena, Val di Funes
Sunrise in Val di Funes, sunset over the Odle peaks.
📍Day 6 – Erbe Pass (Würzjoch) / Alpe di Siusi (Seiser Alm)

Day 1
Antorno Lake & First Sunset Session
Meeting point at Venice Marco Polo Airport by 11:00 AM.
After introductions and a briefing on the upcoming adventure, we’ll drive about three hours to our first hotel near Tre Cime di Lavaredo.
Once checked in, we’ll relax and get ready for our first sunset photography session at Lake Antorno, where the calm waters reflect the rugged Dolomites bathed in golden light.
Dinner at a local restaurant follows our shoot.
Day 2
Landro Lake & Tre Cime di Lavaredo Hike
We’ll start the morning with a sunrise at Lake Landro, a peaceful alpine lake framed by majestic peaks.
After breakfast, we’ll drive to Auronzo Hut, from where we’ll begin a scenic 4-hour hike around the famous Tre Cime di Lavaredo loop.
Along the trail, we’ll stop at several stunning photo spots — from caves and World War I trenches to vibrant autumn landscapes.
Our day ends with a sunset and night photography session around Locatelli Hut, capturing the dramatic views of the Tre Cime under the evening glow.
Day 3
Federa Lake Sunrise & Giau Pass Sunset
Early in the morning, we’ll take super jeeps (included) to reach the breathtaking Federa Lake, surrounded by colorful larches and reflections of Croda da Lago.
After breakfast and hotel check-out, we’ll move to our new base in Cortina d’Ampezzo.
In the afternoon, we’ll hold our first post-processing lesson, reviewing and editing images from the previous days.
At sunset, we’ll head to Giau Pass, one of the Dolomites’ most scenic mountain passes, to photograph the glowing peaks and fall colors.
Day 4
Braies Lake & Cinque Torri Adventure
We’ll capture the sunrise at Lake Braies, one of Italy’s most iconic and photogenic lakes, known for its emerald waters and alpine reflections.
After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed morning to rest or explore.
In the afternoon, we’ll have our second editing session before driving to Cinque Torri, where a short 20-minute hike brings us to our sunset location among dramatic rock formations and glowing autumn light.
Dinner in the Cortina d’Ampezzo area.
Day 5
Val di Funes & St. Jakob Church Views
After breakfast, we’ll check out and drive to our next destination — Val di Funes, one of the most picturesque valleys in the Dolomites.
Along the way, we’ll stop to photograph St. Jakob Church, a fairytale chapel set against the stunning backdrop of Seiser Alm.
In the afternoon, we’ll reach Santa Maddalena, where we’ll capture sunset views of the Odle peaks, surrounded by red and orange foliage.
Day 6
Erbe Pass Sunrise & Alpe di Siusi Sunset
Our final sunrise session will be at Erbe Pass, facing the impressive Sass de Putia mountain — a perfect scene for grand landscapes and morning light.
After breakfast, we’ll continue toward Alpe di Siusi, the largest alpine meadow in Europe, to photograph sunset over rolling fields and jagged peaks, a fitting finale to our Dolomites adventure.
Day 7
Farewell to the Dolomites & Departure
After breakfast, we’ll say goodbye to the mountains and return by private van to Venice Marco Polo Airport.

Giulio Cobianchi is a professional landscape photographer, expert and specialized in night photography with 10 years of experience. Aurora and Milky Way are his great passions. Being an outdoor enthusiast, since he was a child he loved immersing himself in the beauties of these mountains. The Dolomites are his photographic cradle, where he took his first photos. With him, you will be in the right place at the right time!

Filip Hrebenda is an award winning photographer focused on artistic landscape photography, especially mountain areas. His work is characterized by the sensitive use of colors found in nature. Using these colors, interesting light, and working with creative composition, he tries to convey the atmosphere of the photographed locations to the viewer as best as possible. This is exactly the ability that he want to pass on to every participant of a workshop or expedition.

What photography skill level is required for this workshop?
This Italian Alps Photo Tour is open to all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned professionals.
Whether you’re just starting out or an experienced photographer, you’re welcome to join. The only requirements? A passion for landscape photography and a willingness to immerse yourself in nature, spending full days and nights outdoors to capture the breathtaking beauty of this area. From dramatic sunsets over alpine lakes to the vibrant autumn colors and the first snow on the peaks, you’ll experience and photograph the magic of the Dolomites at the best possible moments.
What level of physical fitness is required for this adventure?
No particular level of preparation is required, the paths to be done on foot will be quite easy.
Only on the second day the walk to go around the Three Peaks of Lavaredo can be quite long for some. The duration is about 3-4 hours but we’ll stop many times to take pictures.
The trail is large and there are never any exposed or dangerous sections.
What’s the weather like in the Dolomites in autumn?
The weather in the Dolomites can be quite unpredictable, especially in October, when winter is just around the corner.
On sunny days, temperatures can reach around 15 °C (59 °F), while cloudy, windy, or rainy days can bring daytime temperatures close to 0 °C (32 °F).
During night photography sessions at higher altitudes, temperatures often drop below freezing, reaching around –5 °C (23 °F).
Rain and moody conditions are common at this time of year — so come prepared for a bit of everything!
Documents and Currency for the Dolomites Photography Trip
- Passport or ID card: You will need a valid passport or ID card for travel within the Schengen Area (Italy is part of the Schengen Zone).
- Currency: The local currency is the Euro (€).
- Credit Cards: Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted in most places, including hotels, restaurants, and shops.
- Cash Payments: Please note that some mountain huts and certain restaurants in remote mountainous areas of Italy only accept cash. We recommend bringing sufficient cash with you for meals and other expenses in more remote areas where card payments may not be available.
- ATMs: You can withdraw Euros at any ATM using your debit card. ATMs are available in most towns and villages.

What to Wear and Bring for this Autumn Photo Tour
Clothing Recommendations:

How should I manage my suitcases?
Each participant can bring a suitcase and a photographic backpack.
This is to optimize the space in our van while traveling between the various places and from the Venice airport to the Dolomites / from the Dolomites to Venice.
How Should I Organize My Backpack and Gear for this Journey?
Only the second day we need to organize our backpacks to best optimize the photographic program.
We’ll reach the Auronzo refuge by van and from the parking lot we’ll start walking to do the entire Tre Cime di Lavaredo ring.
Before leaving our hotel for the achievement of the best photographic spots we will organize the backpacks together and we’ll stop at a market.
What to bring on Day 2:
- Camera: Mirrorless or DSLR
- Lenses: Bright wide-angle lens (e.g., 14-24mm f/2.8 or 16-35mm f/2.8)
- Tripod: Essential for long exposure shots
- Remote Shutter Release: To capture shots longer than 30 seconds
- Headlamp: For night photography
- Clothing: Warm layers for the night shoot (temperatures will drop at night to around 6°C (43°F)
- Water: Stay hydrated during the hike
- Snacks: Sandwiches and light snacks (we’ll stop by a market before heading to the Tre Cime di Lavaredo)
The following days we will always be close to our van, no need to organize backpacks.
What meals can I expect during this trip?
During this photo adventure, all breakfasts are included at the hotels. For lunch, we’ll stop for quick meals along the road, and dinner will be at a restaurant.
Based on the photo schedule, we’ll decide whether to have a packed dinner while waiting for the Milky Way or dine at a restaurant. We will definitely try both options.
The itinerary will be flexible to provide the best and most relaxing experience, taking into account the weather, clouds, and your personal preferences.
