Chasing Europe’s finest skies across Tenerife & La Palma

Some nights stay with you forever. Standing above the clouds in silence, waiting for the Milky Way to rise over volcanic horizons, is one of them.

This is astrophotography in its purest form: an exclusive 9-day Tenerife & La Palma Astrophotography Tour, designed for photographers seeking the Milky Way under some of Europe’s darkest and most reliable skies.

Carefully planned for the best week of the year, with conditions ideal for capturing the full Milky Way arch, while also experiencing the Tajinaste flowers, the iconic wildflowers in full bloom.

This journey combines two volcanic Canary Islands into a single immersive astrophotography experience, from high-altitude viewpoints above the clouds to vast lava fields and dramatic coastal landscapes.

A rare opportunity to explore both islands in one carefully timed workshop itinerary, aligned with the night sky for advanced Milky Way photography in one of the world’s premier dark-sky destinations.

You will learn how to capture the Milky Way in the field, from clean single exposures to more advanced techniques in modern astrophotography, including H-alpha capture and blending with RGB files in Photoshop.

We also cover a complete end-to-end astrophotography workflow designed to maximize detail, color, and image quality in your night photography.

In addition, you will explore the use of a star tracker to push Milky Way photography further, achieving longer exposures and cleaner, more detailed results across the Canary Islands.

    📍Day 1

✈️ Arrival at Tenerife (Canary Islands) and transfer to Los Cristianos

🏨 Settle into our H10 hotel, workshop introduction, and welcome dinner.

🌌 First night session under Teide’s sky at Roques de García — an iconic volcanic landscape in Teide National Park. The lava formations here are spectacular and make the perfect foreground for night photography.

During the night sessions, we will split the group into two smaller groups in nearby locations to make the most of the instruction and night photography opportunities.

    📍Day 2

🌺 Teide Volcano & Tajinaste Bloom

Afternoon exploration of key locations inside Teide National Park, moving through its volcanic caldera and landscapes.

🌅 Sunset session with Tajinaste bloom, the iconic red flowers of the Canary Islands.

🌌 Night session: Milky Way over Teide National Park, using lava fields and Tajinaste as foreground elements.

    📍Day 3

    📍 Day 3

🌊 North Tenerife & Atlantic Coast | Cliffs, Sunset & Night Photography

A couple of hours before sunset, we’ll reach Punta del Hidalgo, where a dramatic Atlantic coastline will be our playground for sunset photography. The location offers a wide range of photographic compositions and perspectives, making it ideal for both landscape photography and aerial photography.

🌌 If sky conditions allow, our journey continues to Minas de San José, where it feels like being on Mars—a lava field shaped by volcanic eruption. The location offers excellent opportunities for landscape and astrophotography, with strong compositions combining lava textures, wildflowers, and the Milky Way.

    📍Day 4

🌄 Above the clouds & Teide Caldera

After a relaxed morning and some free time, our Canary Island Photo Tour continues with a sunset at one of Tenerife’s most beautiful viewpoints, waiting for the sun to set above the cloud layer.

🌌 Night session inside the caldera, focused on panoramic compositions with the Milky Way arching above the lava formations of La Catedral.

    📍Day 5

🌴 Transfer to La Palma | Roques de los Muchachos

⛴️ Morning ferry transfer from Tenerife to La Palma.

🏨 Arrival and check-in at H10 in Los Cancajos.

🏔️ After relaxing and enjoying one of the best locations to stay in La Palma, we’ll head out for our first exploration to Roques de los Muchachos at ~2,400m, above the cloud layer in one of the most extreme volcanic environments in the Canary Islands.

🌌 First night session at Mirador de los Andenes, under some of the clearest skies in the world, with virtually zero light pollution.

    📍Day 6

Editing & Best Milky Way Locations

🖥️ On Day 6, in the afternoon, we will hold our first editing session. We will analyze a night image and go through a complete start-to-finish workflow, from basic adjustments to more advanced editing techniques. We will also cover topics such as panorama stitching and Milky Way post-processing, including detail enhancement and color grading.

🌌 After some free time and dinner, we’ll make our way up to Pico de la Cruz, one of La Palma’s most striking high-elevation viewpoints.

From this spot we’ll capture the Caldera de Taburiente beneath a dynamic ocean of clouds in constant motion, while also photographing the Milky Way arching above the caldera — one of the island’s most iconic nightscapes.

    📍Day 7

    🌺 Tajinaste Bloom & Stargazing

🖥️ In our second editing session, we will explore more advanced techniques, including blending H-alpha data with RGB files to enhance the color and detail of the Milky Way and nebulae.

🌅 Sunset with pink Tajinaste bloom in the Roque de los Muchachos area, often emerging through clouds and soft sunlight.

🌌 Night stargazing among the tajinaste flowers, creating dreamlike compositions.

    📍Day 8

🔭 Observatory & Final Canyon Session

🛰️ The day has arrived for a private visit to the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory, guided by a professional astrophysicist. We will learn how the Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC) works, along with the impressive MAGIC and LST telescopes.

🌿 Our final photography session of the adventure will take place in a canyon, resembling a desert oasis, where a waterfall flows through lush vegetation.
