During this month the Dolomites give incredible colors, warm light and everything is turned in red.

People from all over the world come to enjoy this spectacle in these famous mountains.

The Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Cinque Torri, Giau Pass, Falzarego pass, Gardena Pass, Sella Pass, Pale di San Martino, Antorno lake, Misurina lake, Braies lake, Alpe di Siusi, Val di Funes, are certainly among the symbolic places of these mountains.

It’s precisely in these places that we have decided to give you a unique and adventurous photographic experience.

What will you experience this trip?

Come with us and enjoy this autumn adventure. We will stop at all the most beautiful places, alternating nights in hotels and nights in high altitude refuges. We will experience sunrises and sunsets in autumn colors and a Milky Way that stands out among the beautiful mountains.

In this period we will be surrounded by warm autumn colors and we will probably have the first snow-capped mountains in the background. A dream for us landscape photographers!

We will spend a week immersed in the nature of these fantastic mountains unique in the world.

In this tour we will visit the Cinque Torri, Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Pale di San Martino, Braies lake, Dones lake, Antorno lake, Misurina lake, Carezza lake, Falzarego Pass, Giau Pass, Erbe Pass, Rolle Pass, Alpe di Siusi, Val di Funes and some other hidden locations.

Who is the Dolomites Photo Tour for?

A journey aimed at all photography enthusiasts and those who love the incredible landscapes that these mountains offer.

During the workshop we will study all aspects of day and night landscape photography, from shooting theory to post production.

We will start from the theoretical and technical, then we will see how to manage these techniques in the field and we will analyze together the shots captured. The goal is to return home with a great experience and captivating landscape photography.

    Dolomites Photo Tour Itinerary

    Note: the program may change depending on the weather. We are flexible and will adapt to any situation in order to give you the best possible experience.

    The meeting point is:
    Venice airport ( Marco Polo ), not after 11am on October 7.
    On 14 in the morning we will bring the group back to the meeting point.
    Please the departure from Venice on July 14 no earlier than 3pm.

    Day 1

    Arrival at Venice airport no later than 11am.

    After the presentation and an introduction of what we will experience during the week, we will leave to reach the hotel near Misurina lake in about 3 hours.

    After checking in, we will relax and prepare our things for the first night shooting session after having dinner.

    We will drive to the Auronzo refuge where we will capture the Milky Way above the famous Cadini di Misurina, the core will be right above these mountains.

    Here we will focus on single and double exposure shots.

    After the shooting session we will return to rest in the hotel.

    Day 2

    The next day, after immortalizing the sunrise in Misurina lake, we will have breakfast in the hotel and then we will leave by car to reach the Auronzo shelter where our two hour trek will begin to reach the most beautiful places of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo between caves and trenches.

    The walk is about two hours, but you will not get bored, the view is fantastic and we will stop several times to take beautiful photos.

    We will arrive at the Locatelli refuge where we can take a break, eat and drink something. The scenery will be truly incredible, we will be surrounded by mountains, lakes and caves.

    During the afternoon we will relax and enjoy the landscape looking for the spots where we will do the photo session during the sunset.

    After a packed dinner we will prepare for the night session, we will find the Milky Way above the famous Tre Cime di Lavaredo and at 9pm we will start shooting in this playground for landscape photographers.

    Here we will also focus on making a panoramic with the entire galactic arc.

    After the shooting session we will go back to the hotel to sleep.

    Day 3

    We will wake up for the sunrise and we will leave to reach with the van the Antorno lake, where we will wait for the sun to illuminate the mountains.

    After breakfast and a bit of well deserved relaxation in the hotel , will reach by van the Cinque Torri car park, where we will take the ski lift to reach the Scoiattoli refuge in front of the incredible Cinque Torri.

    In this epic place we will shoot at sunset, just a few meters from the refuge there are the best photographic spots.

    During the sunset if we are lucky we will find the Cinque Torri illuminated in red.

    In about 40 minutes on foot we will go down to the parking lot to reach the cars and after a dinner at a restaurant we will reach the famous Giau Pass where we will face the night photo session.

    Here too, in addition to the single shots of the core, we will be able to make a panoramic of the entire galactic arc.

    Day 4

    This morning we will sleep a little more and after breakfast we will leave to photograph the Falzarego pass area, among streams, red trees and rough mountains.

    After this, we will stop at the beautiful hidden Dones lake and in another secret spot, where a river flows from a peak mountain creating various waterfalls.

    Then we will reach the new hotel and we can fix our things and get some relax before going through an editing session on the computer.

    We will face the sunset in one of the most famous passes of all the Dolomites, the Gardena Pass.

    After dinner we will return to this step to capture the Milky Way in a magical scenography.

    Day 5

    After breakfast we will leave by car and in about one hour we will be in another incredible place, the Alpe di Siusi. We will spend the next night in a hotel near the best spots.

    We will spend this day in this place, enjoying the view, relaxation and we will face the sunset, the night session and the sunrise in one of the most fabulous places in the Dolomites.

    During the afternoon we will face another editing session in front of the computer.

    Day 6

    After a hearty breakfast we will reach the Valle di Funes, here you will find one of the most beautiful Autumn scenery in front of you, a church with a small village nestled in a valley with red trees and a white mountain range as a background.

    It’s right here where we will spend the next sunset and where we will capture the Milky Way above the valley.

    We will do our last check-in by changing our last hotel sleeping in Canazei area for the last two nights.

    Day 7

    After breakfast we will reach the Carezza lake, this lake with its colors will not bore you.

    Before reaching the Pale di San Martino where we will face the next photo session at sunset and the Milky Way, we will make a detour by car to stop in a hidden place, where a river flows from a peak mountain creating various waterfalls.

    The Pale di San Martino in front of the Segantini hut are some other famous and epic mountains.

    We will find ourselves in front of one of the most fascinating mountains, the Cimon della Pala.

    In this month we will find our galaxy above the mountains as soon as it gets dark.

    Here we will face the sunset and the night session, in between the two a dinner at a restaurant cannot be missed!

    Day 8

    We will have a rich breakfast and then our adventure will have come to an end.

    We leave by van to reach the Venice airport.

      Additional Information

      First, second, third, fourth nights: hotel near Cortina d’Ampezzo

      Fifth night: hotel near Alpe di Siusi

      Sixth and seventh night: hotel near Canazei

      First day we will reach the Auronzo refuge with our van and to reach the spot (monte campedelle) it will take 20 minutes of walking.

      The second day we will have to walk to the Locatelli refuge (about 2 hours), the path will be easy and with incredible views, you will not be bored. We will stop several times to photograph. Here you need to organize the backpack to to have water, some snacks and a packed dinner.

      The third day we will reach the Cinque Torri car park by car where we will park. With 10 minutes by chairlift we will be at the refuge. After the sunset we will return to the cars.

      Some lunches / dinners may be packed, to better optimize the photographic program.

      The purpose of the trip is to improve photographic skills and take beautiful landscape photos but there will also be moments of relaxation.

      During the photo tour we will do several sessions of theory, practice and photographic technique. We will see and apply all the techniques studied in the field and we will analyze the shots obtained.

      Guided by

      Giulio Cobianchi is a professional landscape photographer, expert and specialized in night photography with 10 years of experience. Aurora and Milky Way are his great passions. Being an outdoor enthusiast, since he was a child he loved immersing himself in the beauties of these mountains. The Dolomites are his photographic cradle, where he took his first photos. With him, you will be in the right place at the right time!

      Victor Lima is a professional photographer from Brazil specializing in night photography. His night photos created with the use of special techniques are famous all over the world and have been shared by the most renowned astronomical magazines. His passion is to teach his knowledge under the starry skies.

      In order to offer the best quality, the maximum of attendees has been limited, so that we can follow each participant closely and in the best way possible. A minimum is also been set for the tour to be confirmed.

      FAQs

      How can I reach the meeting point?

      The meeting point is Venice airport

      Venice airport ( Marco Polo ), not after 11am on October 21th

      On the October 28 in the morning we will bring the group back to the meeting point.

      Please the departure from Venice on July 28 no earlier than 3pm.

      All of ours tours and workshops are open to beginners as well as professionals.

      It’s only required that you know the menu of your own camera.

      We just require a lot of passion for day and night photography and motivation to be out there every day at the right times to capture great photographs.

      No particular level of preparation is required, the paths to be done on foot will be easy and short.
      Only one, the longest, may not be easy for everyone, it will take about 2 hours, from the Auronzo refuge to the Locatelli refuge.

      The weather in the Dolomites can be unpredictable, but on average this month you can find 15 grandees during the hot hours and temperatures will drop close to zero during the shooting sessions at the Milky Way. Thunderstorms are frequent during the autumn, even during the beautiful days, especially in the afternoon.

      • A digital camera
      • A stable tripod
      • A remote control that allows you to take photos with exposure over 30 seconds
      • A bright wide angle lens (f2.8 possibly) for example a 14-24 or a 15-24. Paired with a 24-70 or a 24-120 or a 70-200 would be perfect.
      • Photo filters (optional) GND, ND, polarizer.
      • Astro tracker (optional)

      Feel free to ask for advice regarding the equipment.

      Tip: Extra batteries, as the batteries run out quickly in cold weather. Various lens cleaning cloths.

      The weather in the Dolomites can be unpredictable, but on average this month you can find 15 grandees during the hot hours and temperatures close to freezing during the shooting sessions at the Milky Way.

      We recommend that you dress lightly during the day, especially when we will face the hike but, have thermal and padded clothes with you to wear after the sunset.

      Thermal socks, waterproof boots and a waterproof and windproof outer shell are recommended.

      For people who suffer from the cold we also recommend a hat and gloves.

      The paths will be gravel and rocky, therefore slippery, so we recommend shoes or boots with a good grip.

      Each participant can bring a suitcase and a photographic backpack.

      This is to optimize the space in our van while traveling between the various places and from the Venice airport to the Dolomites / from the Dolomites to Venice.

      You need to organize your backpack well only on the second day, when we will face the walk from the Auronzo refuge to the Locatelli refuge, photographing the most beautiful spots of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo.

      It’s important to have:

      • Mirrorless or reflex
      • Bright wide angle (for example a 14-24 f2.8 or a 16-35 f2.8)
      • Tripod
      • Remote control shutter to be able to exceed 30 sec of exposure
      • Some snacks
      • A packed dinner
      • Water
      • Warm clothes for the night session (temperatures drop as soon as the sun goes down)

      Refund and cancellation policy

      If a participant decides to cancel his reservation, he can do so at any time by communicating it as soon as possible to the official email address of one of the two organizers.

      However, you should keep in mind that the cancellation by a participant would create management difficulties in bookings as well as the risk of not reaching the minimum number of participants for the trip (and consequently the need to search for a new person).

      Because of that:

      • If the cancellation request is submitted MORE than 60 days (before departure), you may receive a refund of the booking fee.
      • If the cancellation request is presented LESS than 60 days before departure, it will NOT be possible to receive a refund of the booking fee.

      * Unless the customer that desires to cancel his booking brings in another person who is willing to take his place by paying the total amount of the trip itself.

      The entire amount paid (deposit or full fee) will be fully refunded if the event is canceled.
