The latest Patagonia Autumn Photography Tour was without a doubt one of the most adventurous and spectacular expeditions ever organized by the GoToPhotoTour team.
A true photography adventure across the wild landscapes of Argentine and Chilean Patagonia — starting in Argentina, crossing into Chile, and ending once again in El Calafate after exploring some of the most breathtaking mountain scenery on Earth.
From the dramatic peaks of El Chaltén to the endless wilderness of Torres del Paine National Park, this journey immersed us completely in the raw beauty of Patagonia during the peak of autumn colors.
If you are passionate about mountains, outdoor adventure, and wild nature, Patagonia is one of the most rewarding photography destinations on Earth.
During this expedition, we spent three nights in fully equipped camps beneath the legendary peaks of Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre, hiking through fiery autumn forests and isolated wilderness landscapes where guanacos, condors, and even pumas roam freely.
This is not just a photography tour.
It is a complete immersion into the wild soul of Patagonia.

Patagonia in Autumn Colors
April is one of the most extraordinary times of the year for Patagonia landscape photography.
The forests explode into deep red, orange, and golden tones.
Glacial rivers carve through the valleys with unreal cobalt-blue water.
Massive snow-covered mountains rise above ancient glaciers.
Icebergs drift silently across crystal-clear lagoons.
For photographers, these conditions are pure creative energy.
And Patagonia delivers them at a scale that is almost impossible to describe until you experience it yourself.

Camping Beneath Fitz Roy & Cerro Torre
Our adventure began in El Chaltén, the iconic mountain village surrounded by two of the most beautiful peaks in the world: Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre.
To fully experience Patagonia, we immersed ourselves in remote camps beneath these legendary mountains.
Our first base camp was near Laguna Sucia, surrounded by glaciers, rivers, fiery red bonsai-shaped trees, and the snow-covered granite walls of Fitz Roy towering above us.
Despite being deep in nature, the experience was incredibly comfortable for the group.
The local team welcomed us with warm hospitality, excellent meals, and an atmosphere that felt more like a remote luxury lodge than a traditional mountain camp.
After two unforgettable nights beneath Fitz Roy, we hiked back to El Chaltén for a short recovery before continuing deeper into Patagonia.
The following day, another 8 km hike brought us to the next camp near Laguna Torre, where the dramatic spire of Cerro Torre dominated the skyline in front of us.

Wild Patagonia, Endless Photography Opportunities
During five intense days in Argentine Patagonia, we photographed an incredible variety of conditions and scenes.
Magenta sunrises illuminating Fitz Roy.
Surreal sunsets reflected in glacial lagoons.
Red autumn forests glowing beneath stormy skies.
And even Southern Milky Way astrophotography sessions beneath some of the clearest night skies in the Southern Hemisphere.
One of the most memorable nights took place during our astro photography session near Monte Polo, where the Southern Milky Way rose above the mountains in complete silence.
These are the moments that make Patagonia unforgettable.
Not just the landscapes themselves — but the feeling of being completely immersed in wild nature, far away from everything else.

Torres del Paine National Park
After our days in Argentina, we crossed into Chile with a private 7-hour journey through endless wilderness landscapes filled with guanacos, condors, wild horses, and the occasional puma territory.
The transition into Torres del Paine National Park felt like entering another dimension of Patagonia.
For the next three days, we stayed in a beautiful ranch-style hotel in Río Serrano, surrounded by nature and directly facing the granite towers of Torres del Paine.
Waking up every morning with that view outside the window was something the group will never forget.
One of the most inspiring aspects of photographing in Chilean Patagonia is how effortlessly powerful compositions appear all around you. With only short drives and small hikes, we reached some of the most photogenic locations in the entire park.
One of the group’s favorite creative exercises was using the twisted dead trees typical of Patagonia as natural foreground frames around the dramatic mountain peaks.
The location that impressed the group the most was undoubtedly Mirador de los Cuernos and the photographic spots scattered along the trail.
A true playground for landscape photographers.
